We’re celebrating World Bee Day 2025!

At GLP Europe, we are proud to support our natural ecosystems. Since 2019, GLP Europe has been building a growing network of honeybee apiaries across its sites. Today, that commitment has blossomed into 36 hives spread across 8 independent locations in the UK, and 46 hives across 16 sites in France.

Our teams will be visiting schools to help inspire young minds about the importance of protecting pollinators and their habitats and hosting events with our customer to raise awareness of these important initiatives.

Our G-Hive Network

Here at GLP, we have procured the services of professional beekeepers, The Honeybee Man Ltd, to install apiaries across our network of sites in the UK. Their role is to maintain the health and welfare of our bees and manage the production of delicious, local honey. Our first apiary was installed at our Milton Keynes site in 2019 and since then has expanded to a thriving network of 36 hives at 8 independent apiaries – That’s over 2 million bees at the height of Summer!

We currently host 41 beehives across 16 sites in France, actively contributing to the preservation of bees and their essential role in the ecosystem.

As part of this initiative, 16 educational interventions and conferences will be held this year in schools and with our tenants. These events will provide an opportunity to deepen understanding of the challenges facing bees, encourage concrete actions for their protection, and engage all stakeholders in this vital cause.

Through these efforts, we reaffirm our commitment as a business to taking meaningful action for a more environmentally responsible future.

Honey production

Keeping bees is rewarding in a number of ways, but delicious honey is certainly one of the greatest rewards. We are extremely pleased with how the honeybee colonies on all of our sites have grown, and with the huge amount of honey they have produced this year.

The importance of bees

If bees didn’t exist, humans couldn’t exist either. The honeybee is the most important of them all and it’s vital we protect them. Honeybees populate the world of pollinating insects more than any other bee or insect on Earth, making them the most crucial pollinator of crops across the globe.

Imagine a world without bees. Many plants rely on the pollination from bees, and simply wouldn’t survive without them. This would impact the diets of all living creatures, including humans.
