Value our Eco-Systems

We strive to adopt a holistic approach to contribute to the preservation of the natural ecosystem and have a positive social impact on the communities surrounding our assets.

GLP Europe acknowledges the importance of preserving the biodiversity and natural ecosystems as well as of respecting the voice of local communities through the promotion of an active engagement with these stakeholders.

Preserving natural ecosystems

We systematically assess and strive to minimise our impact on the surrounding natural environment, reducing water consumption, emissions and waste generation. In particular, we believe that it is important to address impacts on biodiversity by actively promoting its preservation and restoration.

We strive to adopt a holistic approach to maintain and improve land-use and biodiversity by actively engaging on programs oriented towards minimising impact on the fauna and flora and preserving and enhancing the biodiversity and natural ecosystems in our areas of operations.

Local communities

We acknowledge that our projects have a significant impact not only on our natural environment, but also on our communities and we strive to act as a good neighbour driven by an unwavering dedication to contribute to the health and well-being of the communities in which we work. We are working to develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities. We strive to achieve a beneficial output for the local economy and engage in local charitable work.

How we are helping communities

We create jobs

Our facilities create work and become a source of job opportunities. We also work with local schools and universities to create training opportunities to give local talent the tools they need to thrive in the logistics sector and prepare them for a future of new jobs.

We promote sustainability

We lead by example and show communities that the practices we use in our facilities can be replicated in surrounding neighborhoods: reducing waste, promoting sustainable consumption and lower energy use through innovative technologies.

We support local projects

We work with initiatives and charities where we contribute by sharing our expertise with founders, supporting volunteering and investing in schemes that can benefit the area in the long term.

Magna Park: a 30-year success story of community engagement

Birds-eye-view of a GLP logistics centre under construction surrounded by complete GLP logistics centres.

Magna Park, in Leicestershire (United Kingdom), is a project that GLP has been working on since 1988. It is a reference project for good practices in terms of the environment, infrastructure, job creation and customer service.

Magna Park currently accounts for more than 20% of all employment in the Harborough district of Leicestershire. The project, once fully completed, will generate an additional 5,800 jobs, around £12.4 million per year in business contributions for the district, and will be home to the UK’s first dedicated logistics institute of technology.

The centre for logistics, Education and Research (CLEAR) will open in 2021 in Magna Park in Lutterworth.

The CLEAR centre will create progressive training pathways for both new and established applicants, and will also develop advanced technological approaches to contribute to the logistics and distribution sector.

This unique research, innovation, education and training centre is the first of its kind in the UK and will maintain Leicestershire’s position as a leading logistics area within Europe.
