Venray Logistics Centre: a milestone in sustainable logistics

Situated near the Dutch and German Border, Venray/Venlo is the largest market in the Noord Limburg Region, one of Europe’s premier logistics locations.

At Venray, we speculatively developed two units, extending to a total GIA of 30,300 sqm, targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating for construction.

The development focused on circular economy principles, minimising waste and reusing 80% of the recyclable waste with a predicted energy use of 28 kWh/sqm.

Wellbeing

Attractive work environment

Investment in more ventilation capacity results in better indoor climate. The green front façade also improved the internal air quality while providing an attractive and unique feature.

Environment

Many of our customers require their warehouse buildings to demonstrate excellent environmental performance. GLP is now recognised across the world for delivering industry-leading warehouse buildings that continuously exceed our original environmental aspirations, while supporting our customers’ business operations throughout.

High levels of biodiversity

Provisions were made throughout development to protect breeding birds and to promote the establishment of animals and plants, and a certified ecologist drew up plans to protect the fauna during and following construction.

Eco building construction

The front green façade was provided to improve indoor air quality and insulated sandwich panels with high thermal resistance were installed. At least 80% of the previous demolished building was re-used as granulated rubble under the building and in the pavements. All materials used in construction were responsibly sourced. The project delivered a BREEAM Excellent rating, scoring 84.1%.

LED Lighting

LED lighting has been installed inside and in areas outside the property to save energy expenditure. External lights are dimmed during the night to limit light pollution.

Renewable energy

Solar panels were installed on the property for self-generated green energy for heating and cooling.

Facilities

Smart metering

The site is equipped with meters that each measure specific energy flows.
