GLP obtains its first BREEAM Excellent certification in Spain for its G-Park Santa Perpetua project

Madrid, 31 May 2023 – GLP, the leading global business builder in logistics, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and related technologies, announces that it has been awarded its first BREEAM Excellent certification in Spain. This has been awarded to G-Park Santa Perpetua, the company’s third investment in Catalonia.

To be verified as Excellent by the international BREEAM rating system, the 14,341 SQM sustainable logistics project underwent a rigorous assessment of environmental, energy savings and asset life cycle improvements. G-Park Santa Perpetua had to achieve demanding scores in a variety of categories, including energy, water, materials, waste, and health and wellbeing. The award reaffirms and demonstrates GLP’s commitment toward developing assets that are in line with the highest socio-economic and environmental standards.

This certification states that the building is highly energy and water efficient, uses sustainable materials and has a minimal impact on the environment during construction and operation. Due to the integrated sustainability specifications, G-Park Santa Perpetua ensures customers energy savings of close to 30% and provides users with a working environment focused on their wellbeing.

This project is also a strong example of GLP’s commitment to recycling unused industrial sites. In this case, the plot of land where previous emission emitting buildings were situated, was then converted into a sustainable reference building, utilizing the existing land.

Moving forward, GLP will ensure that all projects currently under construction will be BREAAM Excellent certified, maintaining a focus on ESG measures and the welfare of workers, including collaboration with local communities where assets are built.
