27 June 2019 – Gazeley, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, today announces the completion of a 180,000 SQ M warehouse in Tournan-en-Brie in eastern-Paris. The warehouse has been developed for Conforama, one of Europe’s largest home furnishings retail chains and is to be used as a new distribution and storage facility for northern France.
At 180,000 SQ M, the warehouse is the largest logistics building developed in France to date and was completed within 18 months. Working alongside Argan, the leading French real estate company specialising in the development and rental of premium warehouses, Gazeley has delivered this very large scale warehouse to meet the exact requirements of Conforama, an existing customer of Gazeley’s.
The new development, strategically located in the Red Earth Business Park in the municipality of Tournan-en-Brie, a well-known logistics hub, will meet all of Conforama’s logistics needs in northern France, optimising store delivery times and e-commerce activity in the region.
Throughout the development period, Gazeley has worked closely with local developer IDEC on the three-stage delivery of the site. Each of the phases involved the design and development of independent buildings, allowing the gradual occupation and use of each asset over time.
Gazeley’s focus on high environmental standards was maintained throughout the development process and included integrating energy and water savings techniques as well as CO2 emission reduction measures. LED lighting has been used throughout the site and an eco-pasturage has been set up with a neighbouring farm to help the local ecosystem flourish. As a result, the building has been certified BREEAM ‘Very Good’.
Fabrice Cervoni, Managing Director, Southern Europe, Gazeley, said: “To deliver a building of this size in such a short time scale is a testament to Gazeley, Argan and our local development partners’ ability to work closely with the customer, ensuring all requirements are met in a timely manner.
“This development highlights our ability to deliver some of the largest and highest quality logistics warehouses in Europe and we are pleased to have been able to work with Conforama to deliver this exciting project on their behalf.”
