Toledo, January 31st, 2025GLP, a leading global business builder, owner, developer, and operator of logistics real estate, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and related technologies, today announces the commencement of operations at its logistics facility at Magna Park Tauro Illescas, in Spain’s Toledo region. This is the largest project to date in GLP’s Spanish portfolio and will be occupied by ID Logistics, a company specialising in contract logistics, for Alcampo, the Spanish subsidiary of Auchan Retail.

The 98,500 SQM warehouse is designed to operate 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It has 228 loading docks and will process an average of over 100 million boxes annually. The warehouse will manage the distribution of products to 64 hypermarkets across Spain, as well as to an automated customer fulfilment center and 114 supermarkets in Madrid.

The facility is accredited with a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification. It will cater to fresh and dry goods, allowing multiple trucks of varying temperatures to use one facility thereby streamlining services and reducing travel CO2 emissions.

To celebrate this milestone, an event was held at Magna Park Tauro on January 31st. Highlighting the project’s significance for the region and for Alcampo’s national supply chain, the site was visited by key figures including the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page; the Minister for Economy, Enterprise and Employment of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco; and the Mayor of Illescas, José Manuel Tofiño, accompanied by executives from GLP, Alcampo, and ID Logistics.

Emiliano García-Page, President of the Community of Castillla-La Mancha, said: ‘We are growing in services and, in particular, we can say that we are the fourth community in Spain with the greatest industrial weight. We are convinced that having weight in industry happened years ago and we are clear that the logistics industry is a determining part of this growth, not only because it generates a lot of employment, but also because of the value they contribute’.

Óscar Heras, Director of GLP Spain, said: “This building marks a significant step forward in the expansion and modernization of our client Alcampo’s logistics operations. It also serves as a strong endorsement of our commitment to sustainability and innovation in logistics infrastructure. We are proud to see this project coming to life and beginning to create value for Alcampo and the wider community.”

Raimundo Gonzalo, Supply Chain Director, Alcampo, said: “This new centre is intended to be a model warehouse and a shining example of excellence in logistics due to its dimensions and its incorporation of technology. We look forward to enhancing the service provided to our customers.”

Américo Ribeiro, Director, Alcampo said: ‘This platform is a big step forward in the efficiency of our multi-format and multi-channel commerce, with the aim of offering every day to each of our customers a shopping experience where a wide assortment, the lowest price and the best service go hand in hand’.
