Milan, 11/03/2024 – GLP, the leading global business builder, owner, developer and operator of logistics real estate, data centers, renewable energy and related technologies, announced today the signing of two lease agreements with Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer for warehouse space with a combined area of approximately 50,000 SQM at G-Park Valsamoggia. This is GLP’s first lease agreement with Ducati.

The initial lease for 30,000 SQM delivered at the end of 2023, has been providing logistical support for the production of Ducati motorcycles at its historic Bologna factory since the beginning of the year.  The second agreement, extending the leased space by 20,000 SQM, will provide further capacity, and be available by the end of H1 2024.

The areas leased to Ducati are located in the G-Park Valsamoggia logistics hub, which is scheduled for completion in June 2024. G-Park Valsamoggia features 93,000 SQM of warehouse space, including outdoor relaxation areas, parking spaces for trucks and cars, with recharging facilities for electric vehicles.

The building will be certified “BREEAM Excellent for New Construction” meeting one of the highest standards for sustainability in its design and construction, highlighting GLP’s ongoing commitment to exceed the industry standard of BREEAM certification. The building supports the future integration of sustainable energy initiatives, including a roof prepared for photovoltaic solar power and charging points for electric vehicles. The project also includes a number of energy-saving measures, such as insulated facades and roofing, a smart Building Management System and meters to monitor utilities.

Environmental protection has also been a key priority in the construction of the site which will incorporate the planting of more than 400 local tree species in the immediate and surrounding areas.

The hub is located in one of the main logistics sites in northern Italy, just 4 km from the Valsamoggia highway exit. The Bologna area serves as a freight hub, thanks to its close connection to major highways. It is strategically located on the A-1 highway and at the intersection of the highway that connects the three main logistics locations of Milan, Verona and Rome.

Marco Belli, Country Director of GLP Italia commented “A few weeks after the leasing of the first G-Park space in Valsamoggia, we are very pleased to announce a new contract with leading Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati. This new lease, along with its associated extension, takes the total amount of leased space at G-Park Valsamoggia to 70,000 SQM, highlighting the ongoing interest at the site and the attraction of having such strong ESG credentials.

The site is one of the few areas in the Province of Bologna that has had development restrictions eased and its strategic location near the A1 axis and the Via Emilia, makes it ideally suited for production and logistics activities in and around the city. Our strategy in Valsamoggia is part of the broader ambition to consolidate and grow our position in the Italian market with further developments underway for an additional 300,00 SQM in key areas around Milan and Rome.”

“The G-Park in Valsamoggia will become a vital logistics hub for Ducati, in which several functions will be concentrated. As well as supporting our production site, the hub will also allow us to stock components to support our assembly processes and store the finished products ahead of shipment” said Filippo Roncoroni, Logistics Director of Ducati. “Having our storage facilities concentrated in one strategic location will allow us to improve the production efficiency of our Borgo Panigale factory, once fully operational. Care has also been taken to ensure that the new Valsamoggia building’s modern design and sustainable construction is in full compliance with the sustainability standards required by Ducati.”
