GLP delivered GLP Park Ablaincourt, a 100,000 sqm logistics platform strategically located in the heart of the Terre de Picardie region, on Thursday 21 September 2023. The XXL site will house the largest photovoltaic solar installation for a logistics building in France on its roof, with 20,000 PV panels, which is due to be complete by end of 2024.
GLP Park Ablaincourt, which was launched as a speculative development at the end of 2022, is already 70 leased by Intermarché (ITM Group). The park is strategically located close to the A1 and A29 motorways. Commercial supermarket brand Intermarché leased two thirds of the building at the end of 2022. To date, 38,000 sqm of space is still available for lease, comprising 6 modules, along with offices and 34 dock doors.
The roof is being fitted with 20,000 photovoltaic panels, with the potential to generate 6,940 MWh/year, equivalent to 13 times the electricity consumption of the inhabitants of Albaincourt-Pressoir. The logistics facility benefits from best-in-class ESG specifications and is aiming for a BREEAM Very Good certification.
This XXL facility is one of the major logistics sites in France, developed speculatively by Factor’Industry Real Estate (FIRE) and Stonehedge, independent companies specialising in the development, planning and investment of real estate with a high environmental and social value, for GLP. GLP acquired this forward-funded building and the site was delivered in April 2023.
Commenting on the site, Philippe Graziani, Country Director, GLP France, said: „We are proud to have acquired this ambitious project from Factor’Industry Real Estate and Stonehedge. It is one of the largest environmentally responsible logistics sites in France. This building is fully aligned with our ESG approach and our constant search for solutions to help reduce CO2 emissions. We are proud to be able to contribute to the provision of green energy for the communities in which we operate.“
Julien Mongoin, Co-Founder of FIRE, commented: „We are delighted to be able to celebrate the completion of this outstanding logistics facility, which highlights a collective success, the result of the genuine involvement of local elected representatives, collaborative work with all government departments, the trust placed in us by GLP and the first tenant ITM, and the unfailing support of all stakeholders throughout the construction process.”
