Frankfurt, 19th June 2024 – GLP, the leading global business builder, owner, developer, and operator of logistics real estate, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, and related technologies, has today announced the completion of a new state-of-the-art development at Grimma near Leipzig. The new c.25,000 SQ M facility comprises two similarly sized building units.

Like all GLP’s new developments in Germany, the warehouse in Grimma was built in compliance with the strict sustainability standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and in accordance with the DGNB Gold Standard.

Throughout the planning and development of the facility, GLP maintained its focus on sustainability, incorporating certified, recyclable new construction materials in the building process.

The building also incorporates a range of technologies aimed at improving its energy efficiency. The building is heated by a sustainable heating system with energy-efficient air-to-air heat pumps and the skylights in the mezzanine area, along with large-scale glazing in the office spaces, reduce the need for artificial light and contribute to employee wellbeing.

Further energy-saving measures include LED lighting while water-saving taps have been installed to reduce drinking water waste and rainwater collected on the building roof is used for the building’s sanitary facilities. And as with all of GLP’s new developments, the building roof has been designed to accommodate the installation of solar PV systems. The facility also includes a number of charging stations for electric vehicles and e-bikes.

The site, located near Leipzig, a key economic centre in Germany offers tenants good connectivity via the A14 motorway, the GVZ Leipzig Freight Village, for road-rail transport, and Leipzig-Halle Airport, one of the five largest air cargo hubs in Europe.

Vincent Flottau, Senior Business Development Manager, GLP commented, “With the completion of our Leipzig logistics centre, we are once again fulfilling our promise of offering our clients highly modern facilities in strategic locations despite the shortage of available land. The new logistics facility offers both a high degree of sustainability and first-class transport connections. New tenants can reduce their carbon footprint and their operating costs, while benefiting from the advantages of the attractive location.”
