GLP and online retailer Alza have opened a modern logistics parks in the Czech Republic. The facility will be used by Alza as a distribution centre, showroom and customer outlet.

GLP Park Praha Chrášt’any will allow Alza to offer customers a wider portfolio of goods, with fast delivery. The park-like layout of the centre connects it with the surrounding area and gives visitors the opportunity to relax onsite. GLP has now completed construction of the first 25,000 m² of a total 40,000 m², which will be available by the end of Q1 2022.

The top-class logistics facility, built to meet Alza’s requirements, includes a number of innovations. The floor areas have increased floor load capacity, ready for the installation of a two-storey mezzanine, and the premises can house sophisticated conveyor belts, automatic stackers and trolleys. The park also includes a 1,500 m² showroom, allowing customers to collect goods directly to their cars, called ‘Alza-drive’.

The complex is located in the village of Chrášt’any, near the Prague Zličín business zone. It benefits from a direct connection to the Prague ring road and the D5 motorway, which leads from Prague to Germany.

This will be an ESG-focused logistics centre which creates a pleasant working environment for visitors and employees, while maintaining all hygiene and safety standards. The external park layout is freely accessible to the public, includes a food truck zone, a disc-golf course and outdoor chill-out zone.

The buildings are built with low energy requirements and equipped with technologies for efficient management of operations, energy, water and air conditioning. Rainwater is used as utility water and the work areas are illuminated by floodlights and LED lighting, working in an automated DALI system. There is a remote smart metering system and data collection, for example tracking heating consumption and the frequency of opening loading gates. Photovoltaic panels for the roof and electric chargers for the car park will also be installed.

Jan Palek, GLP’s director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, said:

« Building long-term relationships with local communities and ensuring that they share our vision is important to GLP. We coordinated the entire construction process with the municipality of Chrášt’any, including facilitating the purchase of land for the bypass, which had to be built before the site was developed. We have also invested in infrastructure projects that are important to these communities, for example the expansion and improvement of water supply networks, wastewater treatment plants, parks and trails. »
