GLP plans to develop a 185,000 SQ M logistics park on the plot
Madrid, 27 April 2021 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, today announces the acquisition of a 28.6 hectare plot in Illescas, Toledo, with plans to develop a new logistics park, Magna Park Tauro.
The plot will allow for the construction of over 185,000 SQ M of warehouse space. Magna Park Tauro will be characterised by its flexibility in terms of design and measurements, in order to adapt to customer needs. The unique design allows for a large warehouse of up to 150,000 SQ M, combined with other smaller warehouses which will be developed in a hybrid format of speculative and build-to-suit developments.
The buildings will be developed to the standard of the BREEAM Very Good certification, reflecting GLP’s commitment to developing sustainable spaces across its European portfolio. In addition, the logistics centre will be equipped with photovoltaic technology for power generation and thermal panels, among other sustainability and wellness features.
Located in the south of Madrid, on the axis of the A-42, it is an exceptional location for large-capacity warehouses that require distribution to any point on the peninsula. The area is the closest logistics hub in Illescas to Madrid, at 32 KM, with two direct points of access to the A-42 motorway and connection to the AP-41 motorway, the R-4 radial road and the CM-41 and CM-43 motorways.
Óscar Heras, country manager GLP Spain, said: “We have been working for more than two years, hand in hand with the authorities and our partners, to convert an unfinished industrial area into a unique logistics area. The new park will have large dimensions and with advantageous operating conditions that allow us to accommodate any logistics project regardless of its size or height. We are confident that the project will be welcomed by our customers, for whom we will be able to adapt the development to their specific needs, in addition to enjoying a strategic enclave for distribution throughout the peninsula.”
