Nere Herrera

ESG Manager – Europe

“We strive to stay ahead of a changing market that’s being driven by technology… and make sure we also stay ahead of the technology that can change our market and how we build.

Technologies like artificial intelligence, new breeds of robots, and new ways to leverage automation demand that we change how we design our buildings so those technologies can help us reduce carbon, drive efficiency, and make workspaces better and healthier for people and their local communities.”

Sustainable improvements are central to all our investment decisions.
We are net zero carbon pioneers.

Eco template

Since 2004, our developments have used a framework for continually improving environmental attributes. Today, we make sure that every new development is more carbon friendly than the previous one.

Sustainability across supply chains

Sustainability has to be part of every stage of the process, from planning to design, construction and operations. To achieve this, we have created a Project Sustainability Information (PSI) document for our general contractors throughout Europe, guiding them from tender through to final handover.

Sustainability certifications

Sustainable Development certifications, such as BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), certify the environmental impact of buildings worldwide. We already have more than 200 sustainable building certifications, and our aim is to have a minimum of BREEAM excellent certification or equivalent for all of our buildings.
