On Tuesday 9th November 2021, Forum Karlín in Prague saw the announcement of the results and award winners for the best projects on the Czech realty market in the past year. The winners of the 23rd Best of Realty competition, which is considered the most prestigious contest of its kind in the Czech Republic, were decided by a jury of ten experts led by Tomáš Drtina (Incomind agency). The jury consisted of representatives of the Association for Real Estate Market Development (ARTN), the Czech Green Building Council, bankers, real estate agents and consulting firms. Winning spots were claimed by projects from all over the Czech Republic: besides from projects from around Prague, projects from Plzeň, Chrášťany, Mělník, Český Krumlov, Strážné, Jihlava, Prostějov, Olomouc, Brno and Pustevny all won awards.

Only buildings completed on the territory of the Czech Republic since 1st January 2020 could compete for nomination for the Czech “real estate Oscars”. Nominees were divided into six basic categories: Residential Projects, New Administrative Centres, Renovated Offices, Trading Centres, Hotels, and Industrial and Warehouse Complexes.

Decisive criteria for evaluating the quality of the nominated projects were the development of the location, the urbanistic and architectonic solution including interior dispositions, the quality of the implementation and, last but not least, the project’s success on the real estate market and its environmental friendliness. “This year’s competition has shown that the real estate market continues to grow despite the coronavirus crisis and the associated restrictions. The flow of interesting and high-quality projects has not halted. The jury, thus, had difficult decisions to make once again. Given the high quality of the nominated projects, the results in many of the categories were extremely close,”says Tomáš Drtina, foreman of the jury.

The first prize in the Industrial and Warehouse Complexes category was won by the GLP Park Alza project in Chrášťany u Prahy, which earned its place in particular thanks to its use of smart technologies, renewable resources, and rainwater and also thanks to the improvements it brought to the outdoor public space.
