GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, today announces the development of a new 37,000 SQ M logistics centre in Upper Silesia, Poland.
The 37,000 SQ M unit marks the first phase of development and is part of a scheme to develop over 110,000 SQ M of warehouse space in Ledziny, each with direct access to the S1 Expressway. The development comes six months since GLP launched its operations in Central Europe and will be one of the most advanced projects of its kind in Poland.
GLP has already leased part of the space in the unit that is due to complete in mid-2021.
The buildings in Lędziny will be developed in line with the GLP Design Standard, with a clear height of 12 M and increased floor loading capacity (7.5t/SQ M). They will benefit from market-leading sustainability features such as solar-ready rooftops, smart metering systems allowing customers to control utility consumption in real-time, and electric vehicle charging stations. Testament to its sustainability credentials, it will receive a BREAAM “Very Good” certification.
The design standard promotes more efficient storage space, enhanced layouts to facilitate logistics operations, and substantial cost savings from lower utility consumption with a strong focus towards ESG matters namely on sustainability, carbon reduction, wellbeing, and biodiversity.
The general contractor of the project is CFE, a company that GLP has already worked with on a built-to-suit facility for Valeo in Skawina.
Bruno Lambrecht, General Manager, CFE, said: “I’m happy that we can once again work with GLP on a state-of-the-art logistics centre. This project aligns perfectly with our sustainability strategy Together We Go Green.”
Marcin Żuchniewicz, Business Development Manager, GLP Poland. “Upper Silesia is one of the most significant logistics and industrial markets in Poland. We recognise its potential and as a result of this we are expanding our offering in the region through a series of upcoming developments.”
