GLP completes 53,000 SQM logistics facility in Heidenheim an der Brenz, Germany
Frankfurt, 16 November 2021 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has completed the development of a 53,000 SQM logistics facility in Heidenheim an der Brenz in eastern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The tenant of the facility, which is centrally located between Stuttgart and Munich, is Amazon.
The modern logistics facility stands at a clear height of 10 metres to the underside of the girders. The warehouse includes around 3,000 SQM of office and communal areas. The roughly 135,000 SQM property in the Rinderberg industrial area features 150 parking spaces for cars and 52 for trucks. The facility was built in less than 14 months, with construction company Köster GmbH serving as the general contractor.
GLP’s logistics and distribution facilities fulfil high standards for environmentally friendly construction. All the company’s new developments in the German market are built in compliance with the strict sustainability standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and are at least DGNB Gold-certified. GLP’s sustainable approach allows tenants to reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions and water usage, and thus operating costs.
The logistics facilities developer recently announced that it was adding a multi-storey parking deck to Amazon’s existing distribution centre in Magna Park Berlin-Werder (Havel).
Patrick Frank, Country Director Germany, GLP, commented:
“The Heidenheim logistics centre enjoys an excellent location in the prosperous Eastern Württemberg region, known as the ‘region of talent and patents’, with prime access to Germany’s longest motorway, the A7. The tenant will benefit greatly from convenient access to the motorway, as the Stuttgart, Augsburg, Nuremberg and Munich metropolitan regions can be reached within less than two hours.”
Michael Gerke, Senior Development Director, GLP, commented:
“With the completion of the Heidenheim logistics site, GLP has once again demonstrated its ability to deliver first class facilities to the e-commerce market, securing highly attractive locations despite the shortage of available land.”
