GLP starts construction of Magna Park Tauro in Spain

GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, announces the start of construction of the first warehouse in Magna Park Tauro (Illescas). This macro logistics park, which encompasses a unique plot of 286,000 SQM – the equivalent of 28 soccer fields – will allow the construction of large XXL warehouses, combining a speculative building with turnkey operations. Once completed, the park will include more than 180,000 SQM of state-of-the-art logistics facilities.

The first building totaling 35,000 SQM will be available for occupation in September 2022 and marketing has commenced. The building’s construction signals the start of what will undoubtedly be one of the most significant logistics developments in the coming years.

Magna Park Tauro is ideally located for large-capacity warehouses in both traditional logistics and e-commerce, and GLP expects it to be highly attractive for logistics operators and end users in the retail, textile and e-commerce sectors, among others.

It is strategically positioned for warehouses requiring distribution to any point on the Iberian Peninsula, with two direct access points to the A-42 highway and connections to the AP-41 highway, the R-4 radial road and the CM-41 and CM-43 highways. This allows delivery to any point on the peninsula, including Portugal, in less than 12 hours. Located just 32 kilometers from Madrid, it is also ideal for regional and local capillary distribution.

This first building will be developed according to the BREEAM Very Good certification standard. In addition, the logistics center will be equipped with photovoltaic technology to generate energy for self-consumption and thermal panels, among other sustainability and wellness features. This project involves the sustainable urban regeneration of an older industrial area in accordance with the company’s ESG policies.

Oscar Heras, Country Director of GLP Spain, says: „In recent years, Illescas has become a real reference point for logistics in Spain. We are excited to be able to start building the largest project on the peninsula. We are convinced that the project will be well received by our customers”.
