ID Logistics to use facility to serve a major e-commerce platform
GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has completed a 49,000 SQ M logistics centre in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
ID Logistics, an international services provider, has leased the facility to serve a major e-commerce platform in close proximity to the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The region incorporates the Pfalz logistics area, making it an ideal location for European logistics and distribution.
Michael Gerke, Senior Development Director, GLP, said: “GLP’s comprehensive network and high-quality specifications are well suited to accommodate the increasing demand for logistics assets, driven by growth in e-commerce.
“With the completion of the Kaiserslautern Logistics Centre, we have once again demonstrated GLP’s ability to develop sites in prime locations for our customers, despite the general shortage of land.”
Robin Otto, Commercial Vice President, ID Logistics, said: “We are looking forward to launching operations with our highly motivated employees in this modern logistics complex. Kaiserslautern is well-connected and the right location for us as a growth-oriented company with a high demand for qualified employees.”
The logistics centre offers a 40,000 SQ M warehouse, over 8,000 SQ M of mezzanine space, and 1,000 SQ M of office space and communal areas. The property has a clear height of 10 M and features 86 dock doors and 13 level doors. The grounds offer parking spaces for 57 trucks and 255 cars. The construction time was 11 months, and the facility will begin operations immediately.
The site provides excellent connections to the Rhine-Main area, Saarland and France through its quick access to the A6 motorway and being only 70 KM from the French German border. On the German side alone, more than 9 million consumers can be reached within 90 minutes.
The site’s proximity to two airports also allows for convenient access to air cargo transport. Frankfurt Airport can be reached in just over an hour, and the international aviation hub Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, which has a 24-hour operating licence, can be reached in around 90 minutes.
A further advantage is the site’s access to the European railway network and inland shipping. Kaiserslautern is a station on Germany’s high-speed ICE train network, and Ludwigshafen Kombi-Terminal, a combined transport terminal for road-rail trans-shipment, and the Port of Mannheim, are both within 65KM from the site.
