June 2019 – Gazeley, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, today announces that it has commenced development of a new 37,100 SQ M warehouse, G-Park Illescas, near Madrid in Spain.
The new warehouse will be available for occupation from January 2020 and has been designed to meet the needs of today’s logistics, distribution and e-commerce companies. With a clear height of 11.7 metres, storage space within the warehouse has been optimised and state-of-the-art LED lighting and motion detector systems will be installed, to enable remote monitoring and control of the building.
The building will have a BREEAM “Very Good” certification, reflecting Gazeley’s ongoing commitment to sustainability across its European portfolio. The warehouse will benefit from photovoltaic solar panels, which will result in considerably lower operating costs compared to industry norms. It will also feature electric charging points for vehicles and bicycle parking, as well as safe access for pedestrians, all promoting sustainable modes of transport.
G-Park Illescas is strategically located in the polygon Plataforma Central Iberum, a key logistics hub in the region, at the junction of the A42 and the CM-43 roads. The area is in the south of Madrid and is home to some of the most well-known brands, such as Michelin, Toyota and SEUR.
Oscar Heras, Director of Gazeley in Spain, said: “We are delighted to be developing a warehouse in this exceptionally well connected part of Spain, just forty minutes from the centre of Madrid. The warehouse will be developed with a clear Gazeley identity, that is, with industry-leading features, high quality materials, and with respect for the surrounding environment.”
