22 September 2020 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, today announces the development of a new 20,000 SQ M logistics warehouse in Hamburg.
The logistics warehouse, Hamburg-South, will be developed speculatively and will be divided into 2 units, with the size of each unit dependent on the future clients’ needs. The development is expected to complete in Q1 2021.
The development will have a clear height of 10 metres, 25 dock doors and 3 jumbo dock doors, as well as 2 drive in ramps.
The Hamburg-South Logistics Centre is located in the south of the Hamburg metropolitan region in the municipality of Bispingen. It is situated directly on the A7 motorway, the central road through Germany, which connects the Scandinavian region with the south of the country, Austria and Switzerland.
The Hamburg region is a leading logistics hub in Northern Europe, as well as being internationally recognised as a first-class location for business. As the largest global port in Germany and the third largest seaport in Europe, Hamburg Port is an important trade centre and a hub for road haulage, rail transport and inland shipping.
A dense network of regular shipping lines connects Hamburg with over 800 ports around the world. In addition, the site is close to Hamburg International Airport – the fourth largest in Germany. The area also has excellent connectivity to Bremen, Hanover and Wolfsburg. Hamburg South is being marketed by BNP and Colliers.
Ingo Steves, Managing Director GLP North Europe, said: “Following the opening of our new office in Munich in May, we are focused on expanding our portfolio of quality logistics facilities across Germany. The Hamburg-South Logistics Centre is being developed speculatively and will allow for flexibility in design to meet the specific customers’ needs. The logistics centre benefits from excellent connectivity to Northern Europe, making it ideally suited to serve retailers looking for a logistics hub in the region.”
