GLP has successfully leased all available space in Park Ostrava Hrušov, located in the Czech Republic. The first tenants include top-tier customers such as Prosperplast, Logflex and Hyundai Steel Czech, and are expected to move in during spring. The recently renovated park, erected on a former chemical plant, will create more than a hundred upskilled jobs.
The first leaseholder, Prosperplast, a leading European manufacturer of plastic products for the home and garden industry, has already moved into the site. The company has chosen GLP Park Ostrava Hrušov to build a distribution centre to accommodate operations for the entire Czech Republic. The two remaining leaseholders – Logflex, which provides storage and transport services, and Hyundai Steel Czech, which manufactures steel coils and sheets – are expected to move in this spring. In total, the three new leaseholders will create 105 new jobs, providing economic stimulus for the neighbouring region.
The foundation column of GLP Park Ostrava Hrušov was erected on the site of the former chemical plant at the beginning of October last year. Four months later – on 15 February – the first tenant moved into GLP’s modern logistics centre, closely followed by more customers.
The project is being built on the site of the former chemical plant in Hrusov, with rigorous revitalisation and decontamination works undertaken prior to construction to remove polluted soil. The town of Ostrava also welcomes the site’s construction, as it will attract companies to the region and create new job opportunities. This fits with the city’s strategy of supporting investors with a clear vision and willingness to participate in the region’s development.
The logistics complex is located in Ostrava-Hrušov in close proximity to the D1 motorway, connecting Prague and Brno with Poland. Nearby is the Ostrava Terminal, an important link to Ostrava-Shenov, providing access to the international rail network. Once completed, the entire site will provide 92,000 SQM of quality space suitable for logistics and light industrial production. Construction is being carried out to the highest building standards (A+ Class) with building clear heights from 12.5 metres up to 17.4 metres, depending on customers’ requirements, with higher ceilings allowing automatic racking systems to be installed.
Jan Palek, Country Manager of GLP Czech Republic and Slovakia, remarked: “The park is set to complete next year and it is exciting to see the first phase of construction, totalling 17500 SQM, now fully leased. We’ve seen already a great deal of commercial interest due to the site’s easily accessible location and highest quality standards. The entire complex will meet stringent environmental protection requirements, featuring modern energy saving technology and ensuring safety and lower operating costs. «
René Delmar, director of Prosperplast, commented: « This is a perfect site for us, given its strategic position and excellent connection to the motorway network. The building is very modern and designed in a way that will allow us to grow flexibly. We have a ten-year lease agreement, expecting further expansion. GLP’s flexibility and ability to meet tight deadlines has made this whole process a pleasure, moving from an empty construction site to a fully formed modern logistics site in a matter of months. »
Richard Vereš, Mayor of the Slezská Ostrava Municipal District, remarked: “GLP and its investments are a true asset to the region. We believe that the multi-purpose logistics and manufacturing complex will create new jobs and contribute to the modernisation of the district. Moreover, the complex is easily accessible, including by public transport. Ostrava’s main railway station is located approximately two kilometres away. »
