GLP leases an 11,400 SQ M logistics facility in Magna Park Berlin-Werder (Havel) to Veganz

Unit 6 to become a production site for vegan foods

Frankfurt, 14 October 2021 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, is leasing an 11,400 SQ M high-quality space to Veganz Group AG (‘Veganz’), located in the new Unit 6 in Magna Park Berlin-Werder (Havel) (‘Magna Park’). Veganz is a leading vegan food brand which carries out its own R&D and production of exclusively plant-based foods, and has a global presence across 28 countries.

GLP’s logistics and distribution facilities fulfil high standards for environmentally friendly construction. All the company’s new developments in the German market are built in compliance with the strict sustainability standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and are at least DGNB Gold-certified. This sustainable approach allows tenants to reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions and water usage, and thus operating costs.

GLP’s focus on rigorous ESG standards complements the energy concept which Veganz plans to implement at the site, focused on energy self-sufficiency and grid independence. Veganz intends to harvest energy via photovoltaic systems, store the energy in the form of hydrogen, and call it up from storage as necessary. In addition, waste heat from a cogeneration plant will be used to generate refrigeration for 1,000 SQ M of ripening chambers.

Magna Park is located to the south-west of Berlin, directly on the A10 Berlin ring motorway. It thus has a direct connection to the A9 (Berlin-Leipzig) and A24 (Berlin-Hamburg) motorways. Travel time to the A2 (Berlin-Hanover) motorway is only seven minutes. The facility is located 14 kilometres from Potsdam and 30 kilometres from Berlin. It is 157 kilometres from Leipzig, 236 kilometres from Hanover and 280 kilometres from Hamburg.

Patrick Frank, Country Director Germany at GLP, commented: “Unit 6 offers a clear advantage in terms of location for a company that distributes its products across Germany, Austria and Switzerland and beyond, to Eastern and Northern Europe, and even to Australia. Veganz will benefit from Magna Park’s positioning in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region and top-quality transport connections to the motorway located to the south-west of the city. »

Rieke Ringena, Senior Development Director at GLP, commented: “Veganz, our customer in the new Unit 6, is a company known for its future-oriented concept in the vegan food market. We look forward to working with them and we are excited to lease Unit 6 – a further step in the successful development of Magna Park. »

Jan Bredack, founder and CEO of Veganz, commented: “We are very happy to have found our new production site in Werder (Havel), a modern facility in which we can expand our vegan product portfolio in the future. In addition to plant-based alternatives to traditional dairy products, we will also be developing innovative vegan alternatives to meat and fish. This is a milestone in the history of Veganz, and we are enormously proud of it. »

The real estate company CBRE brokered the leasing contract.
