GLP leases 20,000 SQM Hamburg-South Logistics Centre

Speculatively developed facility leased to Pfenning Logistics and Movus

Frankfurt, 10 March 2022 – GLP, a leading investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has leased a 20,000 SQM logistics facility with two warehouses in the southern part of the Hamburg metropolitan region. The new customers are Pfenning Logistics, a contract logistics services provider, and Movus, a supplier for distribution logistics, warehouse storage and value-added services for logistics.

The Hamburg-South Logistics Centre is located within the Bispingen community, a well-connected site in close proximity to the A7 motorway, a north-south route which connects Scandinavia with southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The site also has good links to local public transport.

The Hamburg metropolitan area is a significant logistics region. The Hamburg port is the largest of its kind in Germany and the third largest seaport in Europe. It provides and excellent link between global sea freight transport and road, railway and inland waterway transport, underlining the economic importance of this northern German trading centre. With Hamburg Airport, the fourth-largest airport in Germany, the city also benefits from strong air links.

The facility offers a clear height of 10 metres and consists of two warehouses of around 6,400 SQM and 10,800 SQM respectively. In addition, the facility has around 1,800 SQM of mezzanine areas and 1,230 SQM of office and communal areas. It features 28 dock doors and two ground-level entrance doors. Movus is leasing Unit 1, with Pfenning leasing Unit 2.

GLP’s logistics and distribution facilities fulfil the highest standards for environmentally friendly construction. All the company’s new developments in the German market are built in compliance with the strict sustainability standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and are at least DGNB Gold-certified. This sustainable approach allows tenants to reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions and water usage, and thus operating costs.

The Hamburg-South Logistics Centre

Patrick Frank, Country Director for GLP Germany, comments: “With our two new customers, Pfenning Logistics and Movus, our speculatively developed Hamburg-South Logistics Centre is now fully leased. This once again demonstrates the success of our strategy of speculatively developing attractive facilities in prime locations, with the high degree of trust which we enjoy from our investors.”

Rieke Ringena, Senior Development Director at GLP, comments: “We look forward to working with Pfenning Logistics and Movus, who we are also welcoming as a new customer at our site near Berlin. The full leasing of our Hamburg-South Logistics Centre proves there is always a demand for first-class sites, especially given the shortage of available land.”

Martin Königstein, Managing Director, pfenning logistics group: “The Hamburg-South Logistics Centre offers excellent transport connections to Northern Europe. At the same time, Bremen, Hanover and Wolfsburg are within quick reach via a first-class transport connection. It is an ideal site for us and for our warehouse logistics and cross-docking activities.”

Ihsan Küllük, Expansion Project Lead, DE&NL, Movus Logistics Germany GmbH, comments: “In both metropolitan regions where we’ve recently signed leases, GLP offered us exactly the solutions we need for our distribution and warehouse logistics. The excellent transport connections and the modern, sustainable construction are of the highest quality.” Movus is a joint venture of Dincer Logistics and Getir.

BNP and CBRE were commissioned as the lead brokers for the project. BNP brokered the leasing contract with Pfenning, while Savills brokered the leasing contract with Movus. Noerr provided advisory support to GLP on both leasing contracts.
