GLP has started construction of a modern logistics centres in the Czech Republic. The complex is being built on the site of the former, recently renovated Hrusov chemical plant.

After months of rigorous decontamination work, the project has entered the next phase. The construction of the GLP Park Ostrava Hrušov site has begun, with the first foundations already laid, and will be completed in Q1 2022. The project will provide a modern logistics centre and many new jobs for the city.

The entire complex will offer 92,000 m² of quality space, suitable for logistics and light industrial production. Construction is being carried out to the highest building standards (A+ class), with building heights of up to 17.4 metres. Buildings will feature state-of-the-art technology to ensure low operating costs and safety. In addition, the entire facility will meet the strictest environmental requirements.

The complex is easily accessible by public transport. It is located in Ostrava Hrušov, in close proximity to the D1 motorway, which connects Prague and Brno with Poland. Also nearby is the Ostrava Terminal, an important link to Ostrava-Senov, providing access to an international rail network.

The project is being built on the renovated site of the former chemical plant in Hrusov, which left behind polluted land. Before the construction began, GLP therefore carried out significant renovation and decontamination work to resolve pre-existing environmental issues.

The creation of the complex is welcomed by the city of Ostrava, given the companies it will attract to the region and the potential for generating new job opportunities. This fits perfectly with the city’s strategy of supporting investors with a clear vision and a willingness to participate in the development of the region.

Jan Palek, GLP’s director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, commented:

“We are excited to be building a multi-purpose logistics park with the ability to be used by customers in various ways: as a showroom and distribution centre, for light industrial production, technological research or as an administrative background for the company. Addressing the environmental issues at hand has also been an important part of the project to date, and we will maintain high environmental standards throughout the building and management process.”

Richard Vereš, the councillor of the Slezská Ostrava municipal district, commented:

“We look forward to partnering with GLP and we are convinced that this will be a real asset to the region. We believe that the multi-purpose logistics and manufacturing complex will create new jobs and contribute to the modernisation of the district and the region, bringing back life and business to a place affected by heavy industrial production.”
